CEJA is thrilled to share our 2024 Ballot Measure Voter Guide ahead of this November’s election. While there is a lot of attention on the presidential race this cycle, CEJA has been and always will be a California-focused alliance, and ballot measures have a huge potential to impact the lives of environmental justice communities in our state. Our guide is decided upon by community leaders who live in California’s most polluted areas, tenants, working families with a commitment to powerfully building up all economically, socially and environmentally under resourced communities.
This election, several critical propositions are on the ballot that will shape the future of California. CEJA urges voters to support key measures advancing education, environmental justice, affordable housing, healthcare, and equity. Vote Yes on Prop 2 to approve $10 billion for updating and constructing public K-12 and community college facilities, ensuring equitable access to education. Vote Yes on Prop 3 to uphold marriage equality for all Californians. Vote Yes on Prop 4, which allocates $10 billion toward critical environmental infrastructure projects. Vote Yes on Prop 5 to make it easier for local governments to pass affordable housing measures with a 55% majority. Vote Yes on Prop 6 to remove involuntary servitude from California’s Constitution, and Vote Yes on Prop 32 to raise the minimum wage to $18 per hour. Vote Yes on Prop 33 to support local rent control initiatives and Vote Yes on Prop 35 ensures permanent funding for Medi-Cal.
CEJA recommends our members to Vote No on Prop 34, which would restrict how healthcare providers use federal funds to pass policies such as progressive tenant protections, and Vote No on Prop 36, which seeks to undo overly punitive criminal justice reforms that criminalizes communities of color.
We know there are many voter guides you can turn to this year. Thank you for choosing our set of environmental justice recommendations to represent how to vote with your values and visions for your communities on November 5, 2024.
